Barbara & Cilla

Barbara & Cilla
Barbara & Cilla

Cilla is a pure British Blue named after Priscilla Presley due to having feline Elvis as a neighbour.

Cilla’s day begins at 6.15am by jumping on our bed  (if she has not spent the night there) and gently paws my face telling me it is time for breakfast and her can of fancy feast.

During the day when not sleeping in her bed (under a coffee table) she sits outside on the fence waiting for Elvis to appear so they can have their daily fun. Alternatively she tries to catch anything that flies by within her reach. But she normally comes inside and proudly drops a leaf on the kitchen floor, right outside the cupboard door where her Fancy Feast cans are kept -expecting a reward for her catch.

Cilla is not a lap cat but she does love company (particularly males) and loves rubbing herself against their legs or playing with their feet.

Playing with my grandson’s Lego is another of her favourite pastimes so we always leave some larger pieces out for her games.

At night if I am knitting she loves jumping up and attacking the needles and wools so now she has her own ball of wool to “knit” with.

Cilla is a very contented healthy fancy feast Princess.

16/8 Liver and Chicken Classic -  I really bolted this down but did leave a small portion for morning tea.  I told Mum I need more of this as liver has iron in it which is good for my body. 17/8 Salmon & Shrimp -  Couldn’t get enough of this – licked the bowl so much it moved around the kitchen floor. One of my favourites. The combination of these two  seafoods really appealed to me. I have a very sensitive smell and this combination smelt yummy to me. 18/8 Marinated Chicken - Although I love white meat for some reason I was not quite so keen on this – much preferred the Medley chicken. 19/8 Sliced Beef - O.K. but red meat is not one of my favourites.  Mum left it our for the morning and I did return and finish off what I had eft in my bowl. 20/8 White Meat Chicken Tuscany - Scrumptious.  I ate this very quickly.  Nice and soft and easy to digest.  Could easily have eaten another tin straight away. I  had a big    satisfied grin on my face after eating this delicious meal. 21/8  Shredded Salmon Fare – Mum gave me this for breakfast but not very appealing to me, however, I did finish it but took a few hours of nibbling away at it. 22/8 Shredded Turkey -I absolutely loved this – to me it was like a roast dinner with the garden greens in it – the best. Compliments to the chef on this one. 23/8 Ocean White Fish Tuna – I am not madly keen on white fish of any description (even fresh fish) but it was better than fresh fish and I did eat it all. 24/8 Yellow Fin Tuna Florentine – Another winner because it had spinach in it.  I don’t normally get to eat garden greens so I was rapt with this meal. 25/8 Turkey Giblets - I struggled with this and just ate small portions at a time – not one of my favourites. 27/8 Grilled Chicken & Beef - I started eating this with great gusto – the combination was good – think I could taste the  chicken more so than the beef. 28/8 Flaked Tuna - Not one of my favourites – I think it was a bit too dry for me.

Yesterday Mum served me fresh fish which Dad had caught – he was so pleased to present me with this but I was not grateful I would have been much happier with my Fancy Feast Ocean Whitefish. They must have noticed I wasn’t keen because I heard Mum say we get the fish next time not that Cilla!!. The last few days have been nice and sunny and I have been out on the prowl to see what is on offer in the neighbourhood. Mrs S nextdoor likes to give me a snack but it isn’t really what I like – she said I am fussy but obviously she has not heard of Fancy Feast cos then I am not fussy I like them all but best of all is the Medleys range with the vegetables. Anyway I have decided to leave off any hunting and just rely on our home cuisine which seems a fairly satisfactory conclusion to make as Mum growled when I came home with a wee bird and left it as a present on the kitchen floor. Mum has just told me that shortly I am off to the cat holiday home and like last time I am going to insist that I have a full supply of Fancy Feast with me and that only I get to eat it and not the big striped moggy who tried to pinch my food last time – grrrrmeeow!! It was the owner of the holiday home who put Mum onto Fancy Feast for me and I haven’t looked back. Oh well I must go and have another sleep in the sun in readiness for my next delicious meal of Fancy Feast.

Ho hum this past month has been pretty upsetting because my brother married and what happened to poor Cilla you ask? Well I was reluctantly placed in my carry case and sent to boarding school. Mind you the kind lady there knows I am special and treats me thus. I took my own lunch box full of Fancy Feast cans cause I won’t tolerate any of the boarding school food. When Mum and Dad collected me I packed a sad and refused to eat – well they need to know I am not to be messed around with. After 24 hours I decided it was time for Fancy Feast so trotted into the kitchen, mewed plaintfully and the magic tin appeared. Can’t remember which variety but I did enjoy it – better than a wee mouse. Lately I have decided that green vegetables are simply the best. I tried tuna in savoury broth with garden greens and it was yummy. May go out and try some lettuce leaves from Mum’s vegetable patch if I need a snack. Now the movers and shakers are getting all sorts of strange food items into the house ready for Christmas. How pretty the Christmas tree would look with the all colourful fancy feast tins hanging on it!! Now that is an idea I need to get across to them.

2011 looks as if it is going to be an exciting year – a new years meal of Turkey in gravy. Dad says it must have been made especially for me -the Prima Donna. The adults had something similar on Christmas Day, but I turned my nose up, but oh boy not at this feast – it really is a treat. Then things started to go wrong. Mum produced the horrid cage into which I have often been forced off to boarding school. Next Me, Cilla the wonder girl, was inside and off I went complaining bitterly all the way over the hill. Anyway, it wasn’t as bad as I make out as Mum always takes my own supplies so I had my daily quota of Fancy Feast. As long as the food stays the same I shan’t moan – not much! I still devour the elegant medleys although the garden greens aren’t really my thing the sauce is yummy. Smudge (in school with me) was most envious so once I let him lick the plate – wasn’t much left to lick. Now I am safely ensconced again on the bed making sure I wake the chef at 6am for my scrummy breakfast of Fancy Feast, and then I can relax on the deck and await the next feast.
