Duncan & Sacha

Hello, my name is Sacha. Together with my twin sister, Suzie, I live on a small farm near Christchurch.  I am six months old, and that makes me very grown up. I still can’t resist chasing anything around the house that is not tied down. My favourite toy is a little lion which gives me hours of joy.

My day begins with the most important thing, BREAKFAST! Fancy feast with some biscuits on the side. My favourite is the Ocean Whitefish feast made especially for kittens.

Morning chores are helping Dad feed the sheep and the chooks. I love the hay barn as there lots of interesting smells. Dad tells me we have to catch mice to earn our keep. Yeah – whatever!  Remember Fancy Feast!

Hercules the ram and Midas the rooster think they are boss, but they’re not so tough. The hens are my friends, as they are more my size, but they are not so keen on my chasing games.

Chores over, it is lazy time until happy hour in the evening, when we see how fast we can sprint around the house without sliding too far on the corners. It’s very serious. I would never tell Dad this, but we actually have a pretty good life.

Sacha’s Diary August: It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it. My sister Suzie and I take our job as Fancy Feast Food Critics very seriously. It’s very important. The sheep produce lambs, the chickens produce eggs, and our contribution to the household is to taste exotic feasts sourced from land and sea, dished up to us every morning by a doting Dad. With the selection lined up, we had to choose where to begin. In a rare piece of solidarity with my chook friends we decide not to start with the chicken feasts, although I might mention to Midas the Rooster that such a thing exists. The vote is the Ocean Whitefish and Tuna Feast. Yummm!! That was so good; we both gave it all paws up. The turkey the next day was still good, but we were a little distracted. I suspect that we were a little proud of ourselves from the encounter with the starling that had come down the chimney. Dad wasn’t as pleased with our exploits as much as we thought he would be. Beef next, and we enjoyed that. I’ve never seen a beef, but Dad explained they are very big, even bigger than Hercules the ram. I’m glad we are at the top of the food chain. Two days of seafood medleys, tuna then salmon…..absolute luxury. We do like the fishy dishes the best. Dad thinks this is ironic, given that we don’t like to get our paws wet. Finally we built up to chicken, and it was worth the wait. The Chicken Tuscany Medley was the best. We do have fine tastes. Breakfast is now our favourite time of the day. Dad is so slow at opening the cans, and we can only stay so long on our hind legs while we circle in anticipation. It’s a big decision, gulp or savour? There are two of us, and so savouring has its risks, but it also prolongs the pleasure. We have now come to an agreement……quick gulp, and then return to savour the experience about an hour later. So Fancy Feast…..keep them coming, and remember there are two of us! Happy eating. Sacha

Sacha’s Diary September: It has been a shaky old month with earthquakes centred right under our house. When Dad told us that Fancy Feast would rock our world, he wasn’t kidding. I have tried to be brave but the big shake was pretty scary. When it struck everyone got out of the house very quickly, but Suzie and I thought hiding under the bed was a better strategy, especially with stuff falling all around us. Dad quickly returned and gave us a very early breakfast, but sorry Fancy Feast I have no idea as to what we tasted. Whatever it was, it was a good nerve calmer. OK, no more aftershocks please. I am sure I have used up at least two of my nine lives, and I’m not even 12 months old! We have very sensitive little bodies and we like to sleep uninterrupted, and not keep sprinting for the door. But it has also been a good month. We have eighteen new lambs, including a jet black one. I have to help Dad feed Ben, whose mother didn’t like him very much. Ben is getting very pushy, and clearly doesn’t respect his elders. Dad and I even got our picture in the local newspaper on account of my status as a Gold Level Food Critic. Dad was very embarrassed. And another box of goodies arrived for me, and so all is well in my world again. Dad thinks we are getting fussy. I like to think that our tastes are becoming more discerning and we are starting to appreciate the intricate subtleties of individual feasts. We love the medleys, chopped and flaked dishes. Their juiciness allows us to lick before we bite, thereby extending the pleasure. I think my favourite for the month was the Grilled Ocean Whitefish and Tuna. This combined my preference for the fishy dishes with those with a juicy texture. Despite its somewhat gruesome name, I really enjoyed the Sliced Chicken Heart (sensitive subject around here!) I also have a new liking for turkey when it comes in the medley recipe. Overall Fancy Feast you are doing a great job. So far we love them all, and we look forward to lots more tempting treats.

  • November 2010

Sacha’s Diary October/November: I love Spring. The days are long and warm and the long grass allows me to hide and ambush things like feathers, leaves and Dad’s feet. We have new baby chicks which are soooo cute and soooo tempting, but I got a good peck from their Mum when I got too close. Don’t these chickens know that I am a close relation to lions and tigers? They should treat me with more respect. Two big achievements. I’ve finally learned how to come in the cat door, and I caught my first mouse. Dad was very pleased with both, but suggested I didn’t combine my new skills. We’ve had lots more earthquakes, but they are so last month, and they are not worth even moving for now. Whilst waiting on my food parcel this month, Dad gave us a free sample of another cat food he had got from somewhere. Suzie flatly refused to eat it, and I only ate it under sufferance in case it was served again the following morning. It certainly disproved Dad’s theory that we will eat anything. So when the box arrived, we were very excited and very grateful to Fancy Feast for raising the standard of our food back to where we expect. Dad said there were special treats in this parcel for cats like us, those that like to lick first and then gulp. We were to be the first cats in the world to taste them. In view of my peck from the grumpy Mum chook, it was no contest what to start with – Gravy Lovers Chicken Feast. It looked delicious, but Suzie just walked away, and I wasn’t quite sure. Dad thought that there must be something wrong with us, so next day we reverted back to familiar territory, Kitten Tender Ocean Feast. It didn’t even touch the sides, and was wolfed down very fast. Back to Gravy Lovers Salmon Feast, which was better but we were still both a little unsure. We have carried on alternating between the Classics, Grilled, Sliced and Chunky and the new Gravy Lovers range and I’m afraid we like the old favourites better. Dad told us these new delicacies were made especially for us, and that Mr Fancy Feast will be very hurt by my comments. I’m sorry I have to tell it like it is. Our favourites are by far the Elegant Medleys, and we would have these everyday if Dad wasn’t so mean, but we still love the whole range. Happy eating, Sacha, PS Secretly I love the new range, because if Suzie doesn’t eat her helping, I get double!

  • February 2011

When we all thought life was returning to normal, the shaking has started again. Luckily for me this time the shakes are not so strong, and I don’t have to dodge things falling off shelves. In fact for me it’s just a signal to turn over. So how fortunate am I? I still have a house to live in, a hay barn to play in, baby chickens to torment, a doting Dad AND now another box of Fancy Feast goodies has arrived for me. Before I start on this latest offering, I have to say I now LOVE the new Gravy Lovers Selection. I wasn’t so sure when I first tasted them, but Dad persisted and I now rank them up there with the Elegent Medleys. I now insist they are on the shopping list. I was delighted to see how many Elegent Medleys were in the latest pack, but Dad held these off to last. We started off with the grilled and sliced options, alternating between chicken, salmon and turkey. Call it bulking up for winter, but they all went down very quickly with the right amount of lip licking. I still think I like the fish dishes the best though. The Kitten Turkey is back to familiar territory for us, but of the two Kitten selections, we think we prefer the ocean whitefish. We are now on to the Elegent Medleys, and are pacing the corridors early in the morning waiting for breakfast. Our ability to hover on two legs desperate to get at the morning feast is becoming legendary. Needless to say we love ‘em heaps. Thank you Mr Fancy Feast for letting me be your food critic, and for all the goodies you sent me. I have really enjoyed the responsibility, and you can be sure that we will continue to be faithful Fancy Feast gourmets.
