I’m George, leader of the pack. Me, my brother Monty, step-brother Jack and his sister Misty are all adopted having been abandoned as kittens. We happily moved in with Mum, Dad and the old cat Ginge.
We have a great life. Of a day we roam the bush or just sleep as most cats do! Of a night we are kept in as we love to hunt as a pack – the local skinks have no chance, though Dad is really good at rescue and release when we do bring them in! We love to play tag, particularly around 3am when Mum and Dad are fast asleep. It’s great chasing each other up and down the stairs and then racing across them as they lay in bed.
When it comes to food time I really am top-cat. I love to let Mum know I’m ready for dinner by gently pawing my way up her legs until I reach her buttocks and then sinking the claws right in! My absolute favourite food is fancy feast with gravy. Mum takes the lid off and carefully wraps her finger and thumb around the edge so I can lick the lid without cutting my tongue – it’s awesome and I just go wild! Five bowls are down, the race is on, I must finish quickly so I can pinch someone elses. Darn, Mum is a wake-up to that one – life is such fun!
I was so excited. My first package of Fancy Feast had arrived. Mum helped to open it and inside were twelve cans of food for me to critique – awesome!! Some of them were flavours I’ve never had before. Dinner was a long time coming. I was ever so ready to get started and then mum broke the news -no starting until she bought more of each flavour so that everyone could have a try. Don’t you just love having family!!! Another long day but tonight’s the night. We start with “Beef in Gravy” sounds awesome – I so love gravy!! It tasted great. I licked my bowl clean and even managed to pinch the tiny amount that Misty had left – mum was way too slow!! This being a Fancy Feast food critic is fun!! Day two and we have “Medleys Yellowfin Tuna”. I really loved this but was actually outdone by both Jack and Misty who finished before me. Unheard of – Jack normally makes his dinner last about four hours. On the days roll – day after day of Fancy Feast. It’s really fun trying so many different flavours. Monty and Misty particularly liked all the “Medleys” along with the “Flaked Tuna”. Jack the “Yellowfin Tuna” and the “Grilled Salmon and Shrimp”. For me it’s hard to pinpoint a favourite but you can see how I rated each flavour by clicking on the tab above. Cheers George PS Check out our photo’s on Facebook our page is “Dutchy Cats”.
Second month as a Fancy Feast food critic this is such fun!! I’ve been watching all those cooking shows on TV to get some expert tips. George on Australian Master Chef is my favourite – he has such a cool name!! From what I’ve learnt so far I reckon mum really needs to work on her food presentation – simply slopping our Fancy Feast into a cat bowl just isn’t good enough I’m afraid!! Mum was on the ball this month – straight off to the shops to buy extras of each flavour so all four of us could critique the food. We pretty much all agreed on the favourite flavours this month. The Grilled Ocean Whitefish & Tuna almost caused a war with all four of us gutsing down our dinner in an attempt to finish first and pinch someone else’s. Amazingly there wasn’t a skerrick left in anyone’s bowl which is absolutely unheard of!! Sliced Chicken Hearts and Liver was another popular choice with Misty just gobbling hers up whilst us boys licked up our gravy first and then devoured the meat. Fussy puss Jack particularly liked the Medley’s Tender Turkey Tuscanny whilst Monty loved that along with the Tender Beef Feast. Misty and I love them all – it has really become quite a contest between us to see who finishes first. She does pretty well for a little girl almost half my weight!! Can’t wait for the next package to arrive!! Cheers George
Yeah!! Package three has arrived at last. Whilst we now have Fancy Feast as a standard in our diet it’s much more fun receiving a package of mystery flavours to try. I have a new strategy for this package. I am going to start eating with everyone else, eat only some of my share and then wander off as if I’m not interested. I’ll wait patiently until the others leave their bowls and then I’ll double back and polish off anything they have left along with what’s in my bowl. Great plan hey!! Night one – four bowls are down and I stick with my plan. It’s hard but after just a few mouthfuls I wander off. Mum, Dad, Monty, Misty and Jack all look at me with concern – “George must be sick” says Mum. The gang all go out in sympathy – they leave their bowls and follow me to make sure I’m okay. Now is where my patience is tested. I settle down and wait. It doesn’t take long for the others to settle and then off I go. Back to the kitchen where I happily polish off all four bowls. Yeah my plan worked!! Night two – okay let’s try it again, after all it was pretty darn easy last night!! Bowls down, eat a few mouthfuls and off I go. Wait patiently until the others finish and settle for the evening and then head back to the kitchen for my bounty. Aaargh!! There’s nothing left – not a scrap – between them they have finished their own bowls and then pinched mine. Mum is laughing hysterically – she obviously worked out what I was up to!! After that I gave up on my game plan. I didn’t want to miss out on any more Fancy Feast!! We tried the new Gravy Lovers range this month. They were great. Mum reckons we slurped our way through the gravy in perfect unison. Monty’s favourite was the Chicken Feast whilst I liked the Whitefish & Tuna. Misty (aka guts) liked all of the new range (and everything else in the package for that matter). Jack wasn’t too fussed on the gravy he actually preferred the Medley’s range Shredded Yellow Fin Tuna. Must say we all enjoyed that one too!! Ratings are hard this month as I enjoyed everything we had, though I didn’t really get to try the Liver & Chicken in Gravy from night two – I know my own fault don’t whinge!! Can’t wait for our final package – need to work on a new plan though!! Cheers George
